Betsy Badwater and Lang Hollowman are once again extremely humbled and excited to perform as Hollowman Badwater opening for legendary New Orleans musician and ‘King of the 21st Century Blues’ Chris Thomas King at Vinyl Music Hall on Saturday January 21st, 2012. Expect to hear their set almost completely full of songs from the new album ‘Engine No.9′ still in production. Chris just recently released his most recent album ‘Antebellum Postcards’ from October 2011.
It’s his first new studio album in 5 (five) years and the 15th album of his award-winning career. Antebellum Postcards feature’s 10 new songs and was in stores worldwide on October 4, 2011.
Chris Thomas King is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the multi-platinum soundtrack “O Brother, Where Art Thou.” The deluxe re-mastered CD hit stores worldwide on August 23, 2011 on Lost Highway/Universal Records.
As a New Orleans musician King has been the vanguard of blues and roots music in the 21st Century. King has sold more records and appeared in more successful films than any other blues artist this century. Steeped in tradition as a singer and guitarist on his now classic performances on the O Brother soundtrack King found crossover fame as a successful actor in the Coen Brothers movie as Tommy Johnson (the character who joined Soggy Bottom Boys and told them he’d sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads) opposite George Clooney.
Over the past ten years we’ve seen the multi-talented King in over a dozen Hollywood films including the Oscar winning “Ray” in which he played the band leader Lowell Folsom and scored the films Grammy winning music along side Ray Charles himself. King currently has a recurring acting role in the celebrated HBO series Treme.
